Dear Horticultural Society Members,
We had a very successful 2024 Annual Summer Show on Saturday 20 July and the committee would like to thank everyone who helped make it such an enjoyable day.
There were 27 entrants who submitted a total of 210 individual entries across all categories: this is a significant increase in entries compared to last year. We are also thrilled that no less than 15 entrants achieved a first place in one or more categories but it is even more pleasing that so many people took part, something that doesn’t escape the notice of our judges.
Many people came along to view the exhibits during the afternoon and enjoyed tea, coffee & cake. Colin Huggins again demonstrated his skill as an auctioneer and, thanks to your generosity, we collected over £300 from tea donations and the auction which means that we can make a generous donation to the RNLI as it celebrates its 200th year.
Val Carse, Chair, presented the trophies and congratulated all the trophy winners (listed below) and thanked everyone who took part. Val also announced that Cilla Wilson has graciously accepted the position of President and I’m sure you will all want to join me in welcoming Cilla to this important role.
